JERUSALEMA – CPO AND JAZZART DANCE THEATRE
With the whole world singing and dancing Jerusalema, plans to produce a very special rendition of the piece as part of the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra’s annual community gala concerts took on a sense of urgency. The concert, recorded at Artscape Opera House in mid-October, features the Jazzart Dance Theatre in steps that not only capture the Jerusalema dance steps but add fresh choreography by Nkosinathi Sangweni. The original sound track by Master KG and performed by Nomcebo was enhanced for symphonic instruments by composer Mike Campbell. The result will really get you tapping your feet!
CNN salutes the CPO and how it is continuing with its youth development programmes in this global epidemic.

The cancellation of concerts from April 23 to June 18 has seen sadness and a lot of support. We thank everyone for their support, both in spirit and in kind. We are heartened especially by the support of those who hadn’t paid for their Winter Season concerts but sent us the money in any event. Should your name not be here, it may be that the donation came through anonymously – please tell email@example.com if you would like us to add your name. are one of the few whose refunds have not come through. Every single cent helps sustain us in these really difficult times. The bank details are here and please add a reference/email.
We are particularly grateful to the Richard Wagner Society of South Africa, Dr Chris Eedes and David and Rochelle Bloomberg for their generous donations and to South African artist Marlene von Dürckheim for donating a second painting to be auctioned for orchestra funds. One she donated last year was sold by Strauss Fine Arts for R38 000; we have similar hopes for this one!
