Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, SEBASTIAN LANG-LESSING is regarded as one of the most talented award-winning German conductors. He has released numerous compact disc recordings on ABC Classics. His discography includes the complete symphonies of Schumann, music by Saint-Saëns, D’Indy, Franck, Ravel, Bruch, Brett Dean and other Australian composers, a CD with Mozart arias and a recording of Romantic Overtures. Among his guest appearances have been engagements in Japan, Germany, France and Australia. In 2008 he conducted Porgy and Bess for Cape Town Opera and Den Norske Opera in Oslo and in 2009 he conducted Cape Town Opera’s 10th Anniversary Gala Concert.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Born in Moscow, cellist GRIGORY ALUMYAN started his studies with Prof Gavrysh at the Central Music School in Moscow at the age of six.  In 1989 he received a stipendium from the Russian Young Talent Foundation.  When continuing his studies at the Moskow Tchaikovsky Conservatoire, he already appeared regularly on the concert stages in Russia and Europe.  In 1998 he settled in Karlsruhe, Germany to study with Prof. Martin Ostertag.
He has won prizes in numerous competitions, including third prize at the International Music Competition in Markneukirchen (2001), the honoury award at the International Concert Hall Competition in the USA (2002), and the first prize at the UNISA International String Competition in Pretoria (2002).
