Theodore Kuchar Pieter Daniel
Theodore Kuchar,one of the most prolifically recorded conductors of the past decade, appears on over 100 compact discs for the Naxos, Brilliant Classics, Ondine and Marco Polo labels. For the past fifteen years, he has served as Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of two of Europe's pre-eminent Orchestras, the Janacek Philharmonic Orchestra (formerly the Czech Radio Orchestra) and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine. Since 1991, he has served as Artistic Director of The Australian Festival of Chamber Music and presently also serves as Music Director and Conductor of the Fresno Philharmonic Orchestra and the Reno Chamber Orchestra in the United States. In addition, he serves as Director of Orchestral Studies at the Kent/Blossom Music Festival, the educational institution established by the late George Szell and The Cleveland Orchestra, while also serving as the Artistic Director of the Nevada Chamber Music Festival. During the past several seasons, guest conducting engagements have taken him to major musical centers including Amsterdam, Berlin, Chicago, Helsinki, Hong Kong, London, Madrid, Prague, Seoul and Sydney. Soloists with whom Kuchar has collaborated include among others James Galway, Jessye Norman, Lynn Harrell, Itzhak Perlman, Yo-Yo Ma, Sarah Chang, Mstislav Rostropovich and Frederica von Stade. Pieter Daniel started playing the piano at the age of four and made his orchestral debut at the age of twelve, performing the Mozart Violin Concerto KV 218 in Frankfurt, Germany and later that year also in Johannesburg and Pretoria. At the age of nineteen he graduated with distinction from the Hochschule in Frankfurt, becoming the youngest person to date to be awarded the highest Diploma for musical studies in Germany. Hel has performed all major violin concerti from Bach to Alban Berg with leading orchestras in the USA and Europe, such as the National Symphony Washington, the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, German Radio Symphony Orchestras, the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra and the English Chamber Orchestra. Mr Daniel has played recitals and chamber concerts in Carnegie Hall, the Concertgebouw and the Musikvereinsaal in Vienna. He has performed with the English Chamber Orchestra, the Südwest Rundfunk Symphony Orchestra and was the conductor and second soloist on a 20 concert tour with Nigel Kennedy throughout Germany, performing at all the major halls. He made his conducting debut at the Avery Fisher Hall in New York with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra,during an equally extended tour of the eastern United States. During that tour he also performed the Bach Double Concerto with Nigel Kennedy. In the 2005/2006 season he conducted the Polish Chamber Orchestra on a tour of the major German Halls.
